How to turn off Low Power Mode on your phone
Sooner or later, it happens to every phone owner. You're stuck somewhere without an outlet or charger in sight, nervously watching your battery drain down to 0%. Low Power Mode can help your battery last longer, but it comes at a cost: Don't expect all your apps to work normally, or at all. That's why you may need to switch it on and off while you conserve that precious energy.
Here at Asurion, we help millions of customers get more out of their devices, whether you want to add Low Power Mode to Control Center or your phone's power button isn't working. Here's how to turn off Low Power Mode quickly.
Disable Low Power Mode on iPhone
Like many devices, iPhones® automatically use Low Power Mode when your battery level gets low. That's helpful when you're, say, roaming the woods or roughing it during a power outage. But if you need all your device's features—or you just want to improve your phone speed—you may decide to switch it off before you reach a charger.
Here's how to turn off Low Power Mode on iPhone:
- Open Settings and tap Battery.
- Tap Power Mode and turn Low Power Mode on or off.
You can also change this setting from the Control Center:
- Open the Control Center by touching the upper-right corner of your screen and swiping down. If you have an older model iPhone with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead.
- Tap the battery icon and switch off Low Power Mode.
You can also do even less work by telling Siri what to do. A simple, "Hey Siri, turn off Low Power Mode," will restore your phone's performance. You'll see the yellow battery icon at the top of the screen disappear when iPhone Low Power Mode is off.

The whole Apple ecosystem is pretty similar. If you want to learn how to turn off Low Power Mode on Apple Watch®, do this:
- Touch and hold the bottom of your Apple Watch screen until the Control Center appears.
- Tap the battery percentage button and turn off Lower Power Mode.
And here's how to turn off Low Power Mode on an iPad®:

Apple devices also automatically turn off battery saver when they charge to 80% or higher. If you can't figure out how to change this setting manually, just plug in your device and wait.
Turn off Battery Saver on Android
Like iPhones, Android™ phones typically turn on Lower Power Mode settings when the battery level drops below 20%. This helps preserve your battery if you're not paying attention or can't plug your phone in for some reason.
There are two ways to disable Battery Saver on Android:
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings menu.
- Tap Battery Saver to turn it off.
Alternatively, try this option:
- Open Settings and tap Battery.
- Tap Battery Saver and turn on Use Battery Saver. Some devices also let you choose between Standard Battery Saver and Extreme Battery Saver, which pauses all but the most essential apps to save energy.
For some Android phones, the Battery Saver menu also includes an option called Schedule and reminders. Use this to customize your Battery Saver settings. For example, you can set up automatic Low Power Mode to activate when your battery drops below 40% or a different percentage you choose.
What Low Power Mode changes
Low Power Mode features impact your phone's overall performance, not just its battery. The device will switch off 5G, and apps will refresh more slowly in the background. That means notifications will show up slower or not at all. The screen will also appear dimmer, and you may notice that some animations stop functioning.
While this saves your precious battery, it doesn't provide a very enjoyable user experience. You may feel frustrated by how sluggish your device is and decide to turn Lower Power Mode off, even if your phone isn't charging.
Keep battery-saving settings off by default
If you’ve followed our Low Power Mode guide but want to stop your phone from turning it on automatically, try these battery management tips instead:
Lower your screen brightness to conserve energy without compromising performance.
Check for Adaptive Battery (on some Android devices). This feature learns how you use your phone and adjusts power use to improve performance over time.
Adjust your iPhone refresh rate. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Limit Frame Rate to help extend battery life.
Battery performance can vary by device, so check your manufacturer’s recommendations for model-specific tips.
